Get ready for the smooth and powerful vocals of the Lester McLean Band.
Hailing from Toronto, where he trained and honed his musical talent for nearly 30 years, McLean brings his broad, groove-based musical interests to the Summer Kicks stage on July 24.
McLean is a gifted singer and saxophone player, who is accompanied by his quartet.
Together, they play a mix of soul, rhythm and blues, funk, and pop classics from the 1960s to ’80s, all mixed in with McLean’s originals. Sharing the frontline is long-time bandmate Michael Occhipinti, a Juno award-winning guitarist.
“[McLean] is also a very cool dude, based in Toronto,” said Kicking Horse Culture executive director Bill Usher. “He has just a soulful voice… He’s a really fun sax player too.”
The band begins this tour in Calgary, jumping its way through the Okanagan, Kootenays, and Alberta, heading back east on a nearly 40-stop tour.
The Lester McLean Band is busy, but always pulls out all the stops to impress the crowd, providing a fun and engaging evening of live music.
