100 Mile House Fire Rescue joined staff to extinguish a fire at the Norbord OSB plant during the night on Jan. 31.

Fire Rescue responded to the call at approximately 10:48 p.m. They arrived to find Norbord staff aready fighting the fire.

Fire Rescue spent approximately two hours assisting the plant staff to fully extinguish the fire.

The fire was caused by a log that jammed in the debarker.

Fires are not uncommon at the mill, due to high amounts of fuel and hot machinery, but “they are usually controlled pretty quickly,” says Fire Chief Roger Hollander.
