The Integris Credit Union in the Fort will be moving up the hill to a new location next to the Canada Post Office this year.
Integris had outgrown their current location, according to Joan Burdeniuk, manager of the Fort St. James branch, and the new site will be more central and able to offer more services as the town expands.
The press release on the move out of Prince George emphasized the steady growth in Fort St. James over the past ten years, and they want to be able to accommodate further growth.
“It just gives us a lot more flexibility,” says Burdeniuk.
In its current location, any of the representatives or consultants from other branches who only come up occasionally all share an office and this limits the amount of time Integris can offer services such as financial planning or commercial management.
Contractors are already on site and the plan is the building will be brought forward and refaced, removing the recessed space where people often congregate near the post office.
Burdeniuk hopes the new location will be welcoming to the community, but does note the parking is a bit of a negative in the new spot.
“If you have any creative suggestions, I am totally open,” she says.
Burdeniuk welcomes any and all comments, ideas and feedback and says people can come to Integris’ current location and have a look at the blueprints for the new building.
Integris owns the building they now occupy, and Burdeniuk says they will be looking to sell the property once they move out.
