Comox Valley RCMP are asking the public for help in identifying a man suspected of possessing counterfeit money. The man was captured on video passing the counterfeit bill at a local business in Courtenay on Oct. 3 around 3:30 p.m. Anyone with information on this man’s identity is asked to contact Const. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.• • •Comox Valley RCMP warn the public of an increase in daytime break-and-enter occurrences in the Black Creek and Merville areas.RCMP noted the break-and-enters appear to be happening between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. These hours are when many people are away from their homes working or running errands.Police are asking neighbours to help each other by keeping an eye on each others’ homes and property. They ask the public to question service and contract workers and let them know you are aware that they are in your neighbourhood, as suspects may be disguised with false advertising. RCMP warn to be aware of suspicious vehicles in the area. If possible, obtain plate numbers and notify the police of any suspicious activity.Over the next few weeks, police and community volunteers will be going door to door to provide advice and information to homeowners in the Black Creek and Merville communities.Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to contact the Comox Valley RCMP at 250-338-1321.
