Housing construction remains strong in the Vernon area.
The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation reports that there were 17 housing starts in October, up from 13 during the same month in 2012.
Of the 17 starts, all of them were single-detached units.
“Declining inventories of new, completed and unabsorbed homes coupled with rising MLS home sales have supported increased levels of new home construction,” said Paul Fabri, CMHC market analyst.
Year-to-date, there have been 159 housing starts in Vernon, up from 131 during the same 10-month period in 2012.
The 159 units includes 114 single-detached starts and 45 multiple units.
