Despite raising $235,721, the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation’s Light A Bulb campaign is $14,279 short of its $250,000 goal.
Funds will go to equipment for the Polson Tower’s top two floors.
“We hoped to have the campaign wrapped up by now, but are still taking donations until the first part of January,” said Dr. Chris Cunningham, campaign co-chairperson.
“To have raised more than $235,000 in just eight weeks shows us the commitment our community has towards quality health care.”
The shortfall could fund either three patient beds, two ceiling lifts or three infusion pumps which deliver critical fluids, such as nutrients and medications.
Community support for Light A Bulb has been steady, with donations coming from service clubs, individual donors and businesses.
Tolko’s transportation department held its second annual fundraiser for the campaign.
“At this time of year we receive a lot of gifts from our vendors,” said Darryle Carriere, Tolko’s manager of logistic and supply chain.
“We bundled the gifts together in baskets and held an employee raffle, raising $2,015. Everybody needs the hospital at some point. It doesn’t matter how old or young, or rich or poor you are.”
Generous donations to Light A Bulb were also thankfully received from Vineyard Automotive, Grizzly Curb & Concrete and Inland Kenworth.
