A Hornby Island retiree has some extra spending money on hand after matching six of seven numbers plus the bonus in Good Friday’s Lotto Max draw.

Christa Weiss, who purchased her winning ticket at the Ford Cove Store, won a grand total of $124,601.80 with her one quickpick Lotto Max ticket.

A faithful Lotto 6/49 player for nearly 40 years, she says she just started playing Lotto Max a few months ago after a friend won a few smaller prizes a couple of times.

Now Weiss says she is a loyal Lotto Max player and she’ll keep trying to win the big jackpot.

“The word has spread around Hornby Island,” she says. “In fact my luck has spurred a Lotto Max spending spree amongst family and friends!”

Weiss intends to share some of her winnings on family, put some in the bank as a “cushion” and spend the rest on travel: “I’ll upgrade to business class for my next trip to Germany!”

Lotto Max can be played at all lottery retail locations and online at PlayNow.com, with tickets available until 6 p.m. (PT) on Friday. Winning numbers and group release forms can be found online at bclc.com.
