Inclement weather is keeping kids at home on Friday in School District 33

It’s a snow day!

Due to heavy snowfall, all Chilliwack schools in School District 33 have been closed today, Jan. 12.

“Please be advised that, due to unsafe winter conditions, all schools are closed today for staff and students,” said the notice online.

This weather-related closure covers all activities including rentals and daycares, according to the notice on the SD 33 website.

In terms of University of the Fraser Valley, the UFV Hope campus is closed today. All other UFV Campuses are open, according to UFV officials.

City crews will continue to work on a 24-hour basis, in two 12-hour shifts to plow roads, concentrating initially on higher priority, high volume, strategic arterial and collector roads and hillsides.

Drivers are warned to exercise caution, slow down and leave space for error.
