Recreation is getting a significant boost in the Lumby area.

On Tuesday, the provincial government announced $348,258 for a new water spray park and fitness equipment in Oval Park.

“Oval Park is the main recreation centre for Lumby and the surrounding area and now it will be able to accommodate more people doing more things and having more fun,” said Eric Foster, Vernon-Monashee MLA.

Funding is also coming from the White Valley Parks and Recreation Committee and community groups.

It’s expected construction of the spray park will begin later this year.
