Cherryville was kept busy as the search was on for gold over the Victoria Day long weekend.

The Vernon Placer Miners’ Club hosted the B.C. Open Gold Panning Championships at the GoldPanner Campground Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Gold panners came from throughout the North Okanagan and from across B.C.

The Cherryville and Area Historical Society also participated in the event as 2012 commemorates the 150th anniversary of the first gold claim in the area.
