If you have no plans for Canada Day evening, Armstrong is the place to be.

Plans are underway for a red and white dinner Saturday.

“Join us for a fun evening filled with red, white and fun. Dress in red and/or white, bring your dinner, some fun table decor and join us in Memorial Park beginning at 6 p.m.,” said Patti Noonan, with the Armstrong Chamber of Commerce.

“Tables of eight, including chairs, will be set up so gather your friends and family, or invite someone new to the community.”

Turtle Valley and the Junk Yard Dawgs will provide live music until 10 p.m.

“Decorate your table to celebrate Canada 150 and think outside of the box for your picnic dinner, simple or elaborate,” said Noonan.

“Maybe give it a Canadian spin and make sure to include some local ingredients.”

There will be fun prizes for table decor and picnic basket items.

The special guests will be visitors from Armstrong’s sister city of Rathfriland, Northern Ireland.

To reserve a table, call or e-mail the chamber of commerce at 250-546-8155 or staff@aschamber.com. There is a $20 table reservation fee and it will be returned when you arrive to set up.

“The first 15 tables to reserve will have their name put in the draw for a little something special to finish off the night,” said Noonan.
