Former Qualicum beach councillor Scott Tanner at home, making progress

In late September, Tanner had a severe seizure that appeared a lot like a stroke

Former Qualicum Beach town councillor Scott Tanner’s cancer is gone — for the moment, he stresses.

In late September Tanner was on council, days away from submitting his papers for the November municipal election, when he had a severe seizure that appeared a lot like a stroke.

He was rushed to hospital where it was discovered he had brain cancer, which he spent months receiving treatment for in Victoria.

He returned home to Qualicum Beach about a month ago and has continued receiving physiotherapy in Nanaimo twice a week.

He said his most recent MRI scan didn’t show any cancer and everyone is “amazed with my recovery.”

He still struggles some with speaking but said, “they keep giving me harder and harder challenges to do and I’m able to do them.”
