A senior member of the federal government will make a stop in Vernon.

Justice Minister Peter MacKay will speak to the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce during a luncheon gathering at the Best Western Vernon Lodge Wednesday.

The theme of MacKay’s speech will be, “A successful budget, a secure Canada.”

MacKay was first elected to Parliament in 1997 and was appointed justice minister in 2013.

Previously, he served in the foreign affairs and national defence portfolios.

Registration is at 11:30 a.m., with lunch at noon and MacKay speaking at 12:30 p.m.

The cost is $30 for chamber members and $35 for non-members. Register by noon Tuesday.
