Electronics, cosmetics taken in drug store break-in

NANAIMO – Shoppers Drug Mart on Mary Ellen Drive has $10,000 electronics and cosmetics stolen in early morning break-in.

Nanaimo Mounties are looking for two men and a woman who broke into the Shoppers Drug Mart at 6681 Mary Ellen Dr.

The break-in happened Thursday at about 3:45 a.m. when the suspects pried open a side door to the building and took about $10,000 worth of electronics, including laptop computers, memory cards and USB drives, plus an assortment of Lancome cosmetics.

Video surveillance cameras picked up the images of two men and a woman who all wore all masks and gloves. One suspect carried a black backpack.

“The suspects were obviously prepared and were in an out of the store in 90 seconds,” said Const. Gary O’Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman, in a press release. “The suspects also knew where the items were and it would appear they had been in to this store in preparation of the break-in.”
