There’s a dinosaur on the loose in Nanoose Bay and Oceanside RCMP are asking for the public’s help to track it down.

Corporal Jesse Foreman said the unique, velociraptor lawn ornament was stolen from outside a home in Nanoose Bay overnight on either March 20 or 21.

“This lawn ornament is a large steel dinosaur skeletal structure and was hand built by the resident,” Foreman said. “The ornament is approximately two to three feet in height and weighs more than 50 pounds.”

He said the thieves likely used a truck to transport the piece and he noted it will prove hard to hide given the unique nature of the ornament.

“It would mean a lot to the owners to have their family treasure returned,” he said.

Anyone with information  about this theft is asked to call the Oceanside RCMP at 250-248-611 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
