Highlights from CCRHD and CRD board meetings in Williams Lake

Following are the highlights from Cariboo Regional District meetings on Feb. 16.

Electric charging

Cariboo Regional District directors supported plans for Electric Charging Stations along the route from Kamloops to Haida Gwaii.

Dale LittleJohn, Community Energy Association executive director, gave a presentation to the board asking for support to develop a plan to bring electric car charging infrastructure to the 1,240-kilometre Highway 16 and Highway 97 corridor.

The CRD will be supporting this project by providing a letter of support and a commitment of $9,000 to the collaborative project subject to a successful grant application to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ (FCM) Municipalities for Climate Innovation Program.

Water upgrade

Steps are underway to acquire and upgrade Benjamin Water System in Electoral Area A – Red Bluff and South Quesnel.

The CRD board gave three readings to Bylaws 5127 and 5128 to acquire and upgrade the Benjamin Water Service in Electoral Area A.

The bylaws will now be sent to the province for approval before the board can consider for adoption.
