COVID-19 school closure decisions will come from education minister: SD 27

Spring break for SD 27 runs from March 16 to 27

School District 27 management said they have not made a decision to close schools beyond the spring break, which is set to start at the end of the day Friday, March 13.

Carrie Pratt, manager of communication for School District 27, said colleagues in other districts are receiving media inquires about the possibility of school closures after spring break.

“Please be advised that no District has made this decision and any decision to do so would come after direction from the Minister of Education,” said Pratt.

In a letter to parents, also sent on Thursday, district superintendent Chris van der Mark said they will continue to work closely with provincial health experts at the Ministry of Health and Interior Health to “ensure the continued well-being of students and staff.”
