Multiple charges have been laid against a North Langley couple, following two robberies at retail outlets in Walnut Grove.
James Donald Gunn and his wife, Nicole Jean Gunn, both 31, have been charged with a variety of offences in relation to the robberies, Both accused are in custody and appeared in court Thursday.
Langley RCMP allege James Gunn robbed a Subway restaurant on Jan. 20 and the Lotus Day Spa on Jan. 25. In addition, he is facing two charges of wearing a disguise with intent. Police also allege Nicole Gunn was involved in the Lotus Day Spa robbery. She is also charged with flight from a peace officer and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, in relation to the spa robbery. Police allege a hatchet-type weapon was used in both robberies.
“This investigation has been ongoing for some time and has involved multiple resources from both within and outside Langley detachment,” said RCMP spokesman Cpl. Holly Marks. “Langley Serious Crime assumed conduct of the investigation and the Street Enforcement Unit provided support in Walnut Grove. Also assisting with both the investigation and the arrest were Langley Drug Section, the Prolific Offender Enforcement Team, General Duty, Lower Mainland Forensic Identification, ERT, Police Dog Services and Air One.”
Langley RCMP Supt. Derek Cooke said “This was a huge undertaking amongst all of our support units co-ordinating an investigation into a series of similar armed robberies in the Walnut Grove area. The efforts of these various units have no doubt played a significant role in making the community safer.”
