Resolutions and bylaws from the Summerland municipal council meeting.

The regular meeting of municipal council was held Feb. 13 in council chambers. The mayor and all councillors were present.


Variance approved

Council approved a development variance permit for 10796 Dunham Crescent.

The permit, to allow the construction of a carport, reduces the side yard setback from 1.5 metres to 0.15 metres to allow the open carport. The owner must register a Section 201 covenant prohibiting the enclosing of the carport and must construct the roof so water drains to the south side of the carport.

Grant application endorsed

The mayor and council endorsed a grant application from the Friends of the Summerland Ornamental Gardens for consideration by the Okanagan Basin Water Board’s 2012 Water Conservation and Quality Improvement Program. The proposed project is for sustainable water conservation landscaping.

Orthophoto update approved

Council will direct staff to prepare a request for proposal to complete an update of the orthophoto update portion of the GIS system. The budget for this is $65,000.

Ostraat appointed

Acting Chief Administrative Officer Ken Ostraat was appointed as the new representative to the Southern Interior Municipal Employers’ Association.The appointment took effect Feb. 13.

Safety policy implemented

Council will implement the employee safety incentive policy and will adopt Policy 1200.23 — Employee Safety Incentive Policy.


Waste management bylaw amended

Council passed a pair of bylaws, one amending the Solid Waste Management Regulation Bylaw and one amending for solid waste fees and charges.
