Several organizations have requested close to $290,000 in combined grant funding from the City of Courtenay.

The requests vary from $3,000 to $50,000 to support a variety of endeavours, including a youth music camp and supportive housing projects.

The Economic Development Society is seeking a combined $90,000 in requests to promote a downtown tech incubator project. Requests include support for marketing, planning and start-up-related tenant improvements. City staff does not recommend approval of the latter part of the request. Grant money comes from gaming funds. Courtenay council voted Monday for staff to bring the item back at a later date for consideration.
