Nelson police are investigating vandalism that forced the closure of L.V. Rogers on Monday.
Principal Ben Eaton told the Nelson Star that the school’s closure was necessary for health and safety reasons, and that a team of LVR and School District 8 staff worked on cleaning that morning. LVR reopened Tuesday.
Although the details of the vandalism haven’t been made public, Sgt. Brian Weber of the Nelson Police Department described it as “considerable.”
“It would be fair to say that police have gathered a considerable amount of information and are looking for other participants to come forward,” Weber told the Star in an email.
“To their credit, a number of students have co-operated with police and the school and reported their actions.”
The weekend vandalism occurred after LVR’s grad celebrations, which included private cap and gown ceremonies on Thursday and Friday and the cavalcade on Saturday.
