Colwood Creek Park vandalized

City estimates damages to be about $5,000

Light fixtures in Colwood Creek Park have been vandalized and the City estimates the damage will likely exceed $5,000.

A park user reported seeing several light standards with wiring exposed throughout the park and contacted the West Shore RCMP at around 7 a.m. Friday. The local detachment notified the City.

A control box for the park, which is located on Sun Ridge Valley Drive, was also tampered with.

The Island District RCMP Forensic Identification Section is assisting with this investigation and local police are asking anyone that witnessed anything suspicious around the park overnight to contact the detachment at 250-474-2264 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
