Winter storm warning in effect for the 100 Mile House area

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the Cariboo.

Several centimetres of the white stuff has already fallen on the ground with snow still coming down early Tuesday morning.

The 100 Mile House area is currently under a winter storm warning with hazardous conditions expected.

Heavy snow is falling with 30 cm reported Tuesday morning and up to 15 cm additional snow expected throughought the day.

Drive BC is reporting snow with slushy sections on Highway 20 and wintery conditions on Highway 97, with webcams at McLeese Lake, Enterprise Road and Begbie Summit all showing winter driving conditions.

A B.C. Highway alert issued by Environment Canada remains in effect for Highway 97 via Clinton and Begbie Summit and also the Transcanada Highway from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass.

The snow is expected to ease up throughout the morning and temperatures are forecasted to remain in the single digits into the Thanksgiving weekend.

100 Mile House is getting hit hard by the snow storm with several power outages Tuesday morning impacting thousands of customers.

Due to the power outage Horse Lake Elementary will be closed for the day Tuesday. The route 40 Bridge Lake bus was also running an hour late.
