Another case of COVID-19 has been detected in the Quesnel School District.

Bouchie Lake Elementary had an exposure event from April 20-23, according to Northern Health’s website.

This is the second case of COVID-19 detected in a Quesnel elementary school this month. An exposure in Kersley Elementary School was reported on April 12.

Exposure events were also reported in Quesnel Junior School and McNaughton Centre in 2020.

Public Health works to identify close contacts, and according to Northern Health, students should still go to school unless contacted directly.

Northern Health lists more than 75 exposure events in schools in the last 30 days on their website.

Parents of students are asked to monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 — cough, fever/chills, loss of taste/smell, Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and shortness of breath.

Symptoms from exposure could happen up to 14 days after the exposure, according to a Northern Health letter sent to guardians and staff from Kersley Elementary earlier this month.
