A third family physician will soon be available to serve patients in the Ashcroft Family Medical Centre.

Dr. A. Adetola will be joining Dr. Obu and Dr. Zake, and will be accepting patients starting February 21. A meet-and-greet with Dr. Adetola is being planned.

“Having a third physician bringing medical experience to the Ashcroft clinic is a big step toward our goal of creating a primary care centre to better serve the people in our region,” says Fran White, chair of the Wellness and Health Action Coalition. “Our multi-community group has been active for four years now to improve rural medical service, and this is evidence of what ordinary people can achieve when they work with others for a common cause.”

Full-time locum Dr. Suzanne Guilliam will be covering Dr. Obu’s patients while she is off on maternity leave from March 1 to November 30, 2018.

The concentrated efforts of the local citizen’s action group, the community’s existing physicians, the Western Interior Division of Family Medicine, and Interior Health, among others, are working hard to bring stability in health-care to our rural communities. Having a third physician is proof that progress is being made.

New or returning patients may make appointments with Dr. Adetola by calling the Ashcroft Family Medical Centre at (250) 453-9353.
