For Bonnie Kozley, Fort St. James is home.
And she’s always ready to welcome anyone into her home with a warm smile and a hug.
After arriving in 1969 with her husband Andy, the Fort seemed the most sensible place to be at the time and since then, the couple never looked back.
The Kozleys raised one son in the Fort. Now married, he lives with their grandson and granddaughter in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.
For Kozely, it’s all about community.
Over the years she has volunteered at the Seniors Centre, continues to drive for the Seniors Helping Seniors Program and is still a member of the Stuart Lake Hospital Auxiliary where she has been a member for the last 40 years.
“I love being part of the auxiliary and being involved with all of the fundraising for the hospital but I do it mostly because I really want to help people,” Kozley said.
Over the years, Kozley has had a number of jobs in town including: the pharmacy, the Bank of Commerce and the Fort St. James Dental Office.
For a bit of exercise, Kozley still enjoys curling and golfing with friends.
“That’s what I love about Fort St. James,” Kozley said.
“Everyone’s so friendly here. I’m so thankful for all of the friends I’ve made.”
