Completing the paving at the Cache Creek airport is a possibility next Spring when the Highways Ministry is finished its recently announced paving program in Ashcroft and Cache Creek.
Coun. Herb Hofer asked if that might be a possibility during Council’s Nov. 24 meeting.
Airport Commission chair Wyatt McMurray said there was more prep work to be done before it could be paved, but completing the last 200 feet of paving was important from a medical stand point. The 200 feet is all that is keep the jets from landing there to transport patients.
McMurray said the landfill elevation has changed the approach to the airport, but the work still needs to be done. He said he would have the commission look at it right away.
Mayor John Ranta said the Ministry’s staff indicated to him that they would consider extra projects while they’re doing the paving through Cache Creek next spring. He said the thought of paving Old Cariboo Road from the restaurant to the Post Office immediately came to mind.
