Maeford Place had their annual Mini Fall Fair on Sept. 24.
Tenants brought down their crafts for the craft display. The community garden donated some of their vegetables for the vegetable display and staff collect flowers also from the community garden and other gardens to put together the flower display. These three displays formed a horse shoe design in Maeford’s TV lounge. The tenants enjoyed showing their talents as well as looking at all three displays. It’s amazing all the talent when you see it all in one room. Thanks to the flowers and produce the room spelled beautifully like the outdoors or a greenhouse.
The Fraser River Band volunteered to play at the Fall Fair. This group plays once a month regularly at Maeford Place.
The 4H group was represented by the Foley family. Judy, and children Shannon, Patrick and friends brought in a sheep, two chickens and a rabbit and baby bunnies for tenants to visit and pet.
The evening meal was a locally grown harvest dinner. Vegetables for this meal were donated by Koster Farms. The roast beef for the meal was purchased from Halls Farms. Some families of tenants were also involved in the fair.
The fall fair has been offered for three years now. It‘s a way to celebrate our local farms and talent. It also assists in welcoming autumn. Having their own Fall Fair is convenient for tenants right at their own home. The size is small, not overwhelming and it’s personal. Many tenants have grown up on a farm and enjoy the opportunity to revisit and reminisce.
