SENIORS SCENE: Keep yourself busy all winter

Member registration day is Nov. 21 and non-member registration starts Nov. 25.

Classes fill up quickly, so don’t hesitate to visit the White Rock Community Centre, Centennial Arena or Kent Street Activity Centre and pick up a copy Thursday.

The White Rock/South Surrey Stroke Recovery group is having an Open House on Thursday, Nov. 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Centre for Active Living, next door to Centennial Arena.

Drop in for a tour and find out what this not-for-profit support group can do for you. Plus there will be books, baked goods and crafts for sale.

If you are wondering what level your hearing is at, there is a free hearing test clinic at Kent Street on Nov. 19.

It is that time of year again when Kent Street has their annual general meeting.

All members are invited to attend Monday, Nov. 24 at 2:30 p.m.

This is a great opportunity to support the centre, find out what is happening and participate in the elections.

Tickets are still available for the Kent Street Choristers Christmas concert.

A Child is  Born! Sing Alleluia! is presented at the White Rock First United Church on Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m.

This dedicated 60-voice choir, directed by Gale Lindenthaler and accompanied by Julie Lee, will present a mix of old favourites and new musical selections of the season. Refreshments served after the performance.

Children under 12 are free.

Kent Street Mistletoe Dinner is scheduled for Dec. 4 from noon to 3 p.m.

Meet old friends and make new friends over a festive Christmas dinner with all the fixings plus fantastic entertainment to get you into the holiday spirit.

Tickets are available to Kent Street members and their guests.

Mark Nov. 29 on your calendar for Christmas on the Peninsula.

In the style of a classical European Christmas tradition, this festival is for locals and visitors alike.

Stop into the White Rock Community Centre between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and enjoy live entertainment, children’s crafts, a Christmas-themed parade and a marketplace where you can buy a gift for everyone on your list.
