Kids’ Guide has plenty of options to keep your visitors entertained

If you have summer visitors between the ages of three and 14 years, pick up a copy of the White Rock Recreation and Culture Kids Guide for some day camp ideas to them busy.

• Learn to ride your bike more safely and confidently.

This fun, practical course is for anyone who would like to be more comfortable riding in traffic.

Through classroom and on-road training, you will learn about the safest place on the road to ride, how to maneuver your bike effectively, communicate with other road users, handle riding at night and in the rain and more.

The course is on Saturday, June 27, 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Kent Street Centre. Call 604-541-2199 to register.

• Summer is a perfect time to bring your adventures and memories to life on the page.

Learn how to create memoir pieces from inspiration to publication in this fun and hands-on Writing Your Summer Stories course. Join Sylvia Taylor on Tuesday, June 30, 7-9 p.m. for six weeks. Call 604-541-2199 for more information.

Go beyond the simple basics into more exciting and delicious menus. Learn to make chocolate mousse, lasagna, stuffed chicken breasts and a variety of other creative meals. Join the hands-on More Basic Cooking class starting June 30 at Kent Street Centre.

• Interested in trying Zumba? Get hooked on this amazing way to party your body into shape.

Register or drop in to any Zumba Gold class, Wednesdays at the Centre for Active Living at 9 a.m., or Fridays at the White Rock Community Centre at 9:45 a.m. for an hour of Latin-inspired music and dance steps for a dynamic fitness workout. Call 604-541-2199 for more details.

• From June 18 to July 17, Art on Display presents: Joyce Ozier – Marked Panels, Panels, Panels at the White Rock Community Centre.

Ozier’s process involves pure improvisation, and always begins with four vertical panels. As each painting evolves, she changes their order and flips them individually until the perfect balance is achieved.

This process allows for simplicity, dynamic gesture, playfulness and indeterminacy. It’s an art show not to be missed.
