The Yarrow String Quartet presents a benefit concert on Sunday, May 15 at Emmanuel Mennonite Church (3471 Clearbrook Rd.).
The concert begins at 2:30 p.m. Admission is by donation, with proceeds going to the Run for Water, which takes place May 29 in Abbotsford in support of clean water projects in Ethiopia.
The Yarrow String Quartet features Nicholas Voth, 13, Finn Longhurst, 13, Bea Longhurst, 10, and William Voth, 10 – two sets of siblings who have participated in the Run for Water for the past four years, running the 5K and 10K road races.
This year, Nick and Finn (best friends) are trying out the trail run, and Bea and William (classmates and neighbourhood friends since birth) are training for the 10K road run.
They have played together as the Yarrow String Quartet for the past five years.
Nick plays first violin, Finn second violin, Bea viola and William cello.
They have been nominated two years in a row to play at the Provincial Music Festival, and they are also playing on Saturday night at the honours concert during the Abbotsford Registered Music Teachers’ Association Awards.
