‘Vivid’ to be last art exhibition before Waterfront Gallery upgraded

The show will run from September 21 to September 29, and features a variety of talented artists

Vivid Art Show will be the final exhibit in the Ladysmith Waterfront Gallery before upgrades begin on the Machine Shop.

The show will run from September 21 to September 29, and features a variety of talented artists. President of the Nanaimo Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists, Claudia Lohman organized the show. Artists featured include Brenda Isaak Takao, Katherine Moore, Ted Jolda, Diane Brinton, and Majie Laverne.

“This show represents the coming together of a new mix of artists,” said Brenda Isaak Takao of Blue Seed Studio, and one of the artists. “We have a blend of glass artists, painters, mixed media and metal artists, as well as jewellers.”

Takao is looking forward to showing new work in Vivid, and is excited about bringing a high quality of art to the Waterfront Gallery.

“It’s a beautiful gallery — everybody just loves the building,” Takao said. “I think it’s cool that we get to be the last show here before [the upgrade].”

Opening gala reception is September 21 at 6:00 pm. The gala will give show-goers the opportunity to interact with the artists. The gallery will be open 11:00 am – 4:00 pm.

After Vivid’s show run is over, the Ladysmith Arts Council will relocate operations to Davis Road School.
