Two hugely varying but very popular seasonal shows return to the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre stage this coming week.
Winter Harp, scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. is back, offering a performance that is both restful and surprisingly energizing, with hauntingly lovely renditions of traditional songs and carols played on harps and unusual instruments.
Against beautiful backdrops, the group — costumed in colourful medieval clothing — play hand drums, bells, chimes, flutes, and, of course, harps, and tell stories, all aimed at taking the audience away from the mundane into a Christmas world of wonder.
Tickets are $36 each.
The Killer, Cash, and the King Christmas
Now, for something completely different.
The Legends of Rock’n’Roll series presents The Million Dollar Christmas with The Killer, Cash, and the King on Tuesday, Dec. 12 starting at 7:30 p.m.
You’ll see Lance Lipinsky as Jerry Lee Lewis, Philip Bauer as Johnny Cash, and Ted Torres as Young Elvis with the Legends All-star band and the Big Bopper as host and emcee.
The Killer, Cash, and the King
This 90-minute rockabilly extravaganza comes from a well-proven stable and offers all the hits and a few seasonal songs by this trio that have stood the test of time.
