1 An annual Block Party for Babies campaign event happens Friday (May 12) at Surrey Honda, where the CTV Vancouver crew will set up for a day of free, family-friendly fun, including a performance by the party band Dr. Strangelove (pictured) and activities for kids – face painting, bouncy castle and more. The Hope Starts Here campaign (Hopestartshere.ca) is built to support the Newborn Intensive Care Unit, or NCIU, at BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre. A $25-a-ticket lottery will be drawn at 6:30 p.m. at the car dealership, located at 15291 Fraser Hwy., in the Fleetwood area of Surrey.
2 Until Friday (May 12), City Centre Library hosts Taan’s Moons: A Haida Moon Story Art Exhibit &Celebration, to mark Canadian Children’s Book Week. Original felted art from the picturebook is featured, and related events include a Communty Conversation for adults and teens on Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. – an event that involves the book’s artist and illustrator.
