NORTH DELTA — This Saturday (March 10) is a time to “Rewind, Pause and Play” for members of Sungod Skating Club.
The organization’s 2018 ice show is a trip through the musical decades, with numbers from the 1920s through to modern-day sounds, including music by the Bee Gees, Elvis, the Black Eyed Peas and other hit-makers.
“Skaters will take us through time as we hear some amazing original and musical covers of iconic artists,” said Denise Reid, the club’s director of publicity and communications.
“The show’s artistic director, Hana Haraga, who was once a top competitor for the club herself, has put great thought and effort into forming a fantastic musical adventure.”
The two show times on Saturday are at 1 and 6 p.m. at Sungod Recreation Centre. Tickets, available at the door, are $10 for adults and $5 for children/seniors.
Sungod has hosted an ice show since 1973, Reid noted, however it has taken place on a bi-annual basis for a number of years.
“Skaters from preschool to our Senior Elite skaters will surely wow both young and young at heart,” she added. “50/50 draws, raffle prizes and a great time is anticipated by all. Delta TV will be filming the event, and we hope to see many of our local community come out to show some support for our terrific athletes.”
Of note, she said, the Sungod Girls (pictured in gold dresses) will wear the original costumes from the club’s 1973 show.
“The number has remained unchanged in 45 years,” Reid explained.
