Roots, folk, blues for next AE concert Friday in Chilliwack

The Acoustic Emporium hosts Michael Averill and PK Tessmann on Nov. 10

Next up at the Acoustic Emporium is Michael Averill and PK Tessmann on Friday.

Averill is an adventurous Canadian troubadour who delivers stories and songs of serendipity around the country by foot. Through heartfelt roots, folk, and blues, he captivates his audiences and invites them to connect deeper within themselves and their communities.

“Michael has a pied piper quality to him. He is a community builder, scene creator, and movement organizer. He is a teacher and inspirational leader that has the ability to gather the arts community around him, and take them in directions they might not achieve on their own,” says Chris Brandt, executive director of Music Heals.

PK Tessmann is a fixture in the Vancouver Island indie-folk community. Her well-crafted, original songs are something of substance: a synergy of flowing lyrics, whispered harmonies, twinkling ukulele or acoustic guitar, and her bold, multi-faceted voice. With more than 20 years of songwriting and performance behind her, Tessmann is celebrating the release of her new album Dear City (2016). Two-time winner of Best Roots/Folk Recording at the Vancouver Island Music Awards, Tessmann’s work has been described as “beguiling,” “potent, ” and “unpretentious.” Her latest work is no exception.

Michael Averill and PK Tessmann perform Friday, Nov. 10 at Acoustic Emporium (45892 Wellington Ave. – The Vineyard Community Centre). Doors at 7 p.m., show at 7:30 p.m. Tickets $15 at the door, or online at www.acousticemporium.com.
