An engaging series of Quick Talks takes place on Thursday, Oct. 17, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kelowna Art Gallery.
The talks coincide with the current exhibitions: Keith Langergraber: Theatre of the Exploding Sun, and Saturday Morning Cartoons. Five guest speakers will present for 10 minutes each on the intersection of art and technology in their practice, and the future of art in a digital world. Will the ubiquity of the digital become the new norm, or will it create a return to more traditional forms and techniques?
Talks will be back-to-back, after which moderator Joanne Gervais, artist and sessional instructor with the aculty of creative and critical studies at UBCO, will field questions from the panel and the audience.
Panelists include, Francisco Carreón, production manager, Artistech; Constance Crompton, assistant professor, digital humanities, faculty of creative and critical studies, UBCO; Augusto Kaprocnzai, concept artist/character designer, Bardel Studio; Keith Langergraber, artist and sessional instructor, faculty of culture and community, Emily Carr University of Art + Design; Emily Mullock, associate art director, Disney Interactive.
