Postmortem a mystery by Chilliwack Players’ Guild

Expect exciting plot twists, suspense and even a few laughs in Postmortem by Ken Ludwig

Life imitates art in Postmortem, a mystery and the latest production by Chilliwack Players’ Guild at the Cultural Centre April 18-27.

Expect exciting plot twists, suspense and even a few laughs.

When the curtain rises, an actor known for his portrayals of Sherlock Holmes, has invited the cast of his latest play out for a weekend retreat.

Turns out it’s an anniversary of sorts for the acting troupe.

The very same group of players were in attendance the year before when another guest mysteriously committed suicide.

Accusations of jealousy, revenge and even murder erupt in this production set in the 1920s. It slowly becomes clear that someone is trying to kill the weekend host and keep him from learning the terrible truth.

But it seems the eccentric actor plans to solve the cold case himself, in the intrepid tradition of his hero Sherlock Holmes, setting the scene for his greatest, and perhaps final, role.

Postmortem stars Darcy Ferrier, Ross Biondolillio, Denise Munro, Laura Hames, Rachel Plaza; the veterans and Sabine Gaudette, Darrin Kennedy, Gifford McRobbie; the newbies, directed by Larry Hamm.

Hamm has acted in many Guild productions, and directed in other non-Guild productions, but this is his first time in the director’s chair for the Guild. Postmortem follows the troupe on the anniversary of an apparent suicide of one of its members, back at the scene of the crime to find her murderer.

Postmortem, a mystery by Ken Ludwig, runs April 18-20 evenings with one Sunday, April 21 matinée and evenings April 24-27 at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors and can be purchased by contacting the Cultural Centre box office, » Buy Tickets Online Now! or call 604-391-SHOW (7469).
