A showing of the Banff Film Festival’s world tour put on by Wells Gray Outdoors Club last September was highly successful, according to Charlotte Smith, one of the organizers.
“It will be the first annual,” she said. “We want to take it on again and Banff wants to keep us.”

Speaking at a Clearwater town council meeting held Nov. 21, the WGOC representative said 168 tickets had been sold, raising about $4,200.
Other sales, plus grants such as $500 from District of Clearwater and $1,000 from Wells Gray Country services committee brought revenues to $7,500. With expenses of $4,600, that left a profit of $2,900.
The grant-in-aid from the municipality was an important factor in giving the club members the confidence they needed to go ahead, Smith said.
The event was held in the gym at Dutch Lake Community Centre, which worked fairly well, she felt, although next year they hope to take some steps to improve the sound.
A total of nine short films were shown during the event, covering sports such as mountain biking, dog-sledding, whitewater kayaking and rock climbing.
