Summertime fun is the theme for the upcoming Angela Morgan Solo Show to be held at The Artym Gallery on Saturday, August 13.

Morgan is a British Columbian artist who resides in southern B.C.

The Artym Gallery started representing her work after she was noticed at an art show held at Strand’s Restaurant in downtown Invermere a decade ago. She is now recognized as an internationally acclaimed artist.

That’s a long way from Morgan’s intent when studying for her Bachelor of Fine Arts.

Initially, Morgan was steering towards fashion design, but luckily for all of us she ended up painting. Now her works often feature women and children of all ages dressed in fashionable clothes and hats.

Two large pieces adorn the walls of provincial children’s hospitals. Morgan was also one of five artists commissioned to do a painting celebrating the Saskatchewan Roughriders 100th Anniversary in 2010.  The list goes on.

Everyone loves the interactions between her universal characters that represent our life experiences and connections with people.

There’s your free-spirited, zany grandmother who is the life of the party, a daydreaming cousin who is distracted by a butterfly while playing tug of war, a big sister playing dress up and keeping her little brother in tow, or there are three mature women floating around in inner tubes in the backyard pool.

Morgan’s 40 new original paintings will be available for purchase when The Artym Gallery opens at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

The popularity of the show draws old and new collectors to line up early. Morgan will be at the gallery from 12  to 3 p.m., don’t miss this chance to meet her!

If you‘re unable to attend the show, you can view all the paintings online at  artymgallery.com. The exhibition will continue until August 18.
