Two characters — a young boy and a middle-aged man — are unknowingly connected in their pursuit of self-fulfillment.
This is the story that unfolds in a new music video from //AMISTAD// of Vernon for their infectious single, Conquer. The captivating drawings and animation for the video were created by Pascaline Lefebvre with the computer programmed animation by Guillaume Pelletier-Auger.
“We definitely knew we wanted an animated video, not only because we love animation but we also wanted to give our Talk Peace To A Wolf video series some variety and animation was the answer,” said //AMISTAD// drummer Carson Bassett. “Finding an animator was a challenge in itself, but when we came across Pascaline’s work we knew it was the perfect fit for Conquer. We had the same concept, and she loved the colours. We couldn’t have asked for anyone better.”
The video for Conquer was voted in as one of 30 winners in this year’s music video category of Storyhive — a community-powered funding program from Telus that gives production grants and distribution opportunities to local creative talent in Western Canada. Winners are decided by community vote, with the next round of voting open now.
Lead singer Aidan Andrews formed the band with the twin brother rhythm section of Nolan and Carson Bassett in 2010. Eli Garlick on guitar and Craig Matterson on keyboards round off the rest of //AMISTAD//. All of them are multi-instrumentalists and serious athletes with honour roll smarts that have made them the toast of the town.
Their 2016 EP, Talk Peace To A Wolf, is available now on iTunes/Apple Music and Spotify.
