A local organization that helps families in need send their children to equine-assisted programs is raising funds with a game show night.
The Little Oasis Benefit Society (LOBS) is hosting “Price is Jeopardy or No Deal of Future” at the Rossland Miners’ Hall on Saturday, Jan. 20 from 7 p.m. to midnight.
“The game show is put on by Altitude Entertainment,” explains Michelle Seminoff, a director of LOBS. “… It’s a spoof on like Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune — all your favourite TV show game shows — and they kind of put it all together.”
The game show is played in teams of 10 and participants can either come with a team of 10 or come solo or as part of a smaller group and be put onto a team of 10.
“And you compete against each other answering silly questions,” says Seminoff.
There are also prizes — both for the game show and for best costumes.
“Our theme is bust out your inner cowboy/inner cowgirl,” says Seminoff.
The evening includes both the game show and a dance. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. The dance begins at 10 p.m.
Tickets for the entire evening are $20 and can be purchased with cash from Revival Boutique in Rossland.
There are only 100 tickets for the game show and Seminoff says they are likely to sell out, so buy yours sooner than later.
You can also purchase tickets for the dance only for $10.
Tickets may also be purchased by e-Transfer at email@example.com. Please provide your name, the number of tickets and specify if you’d like tickets for the entire evening or just the dance.
Proceeds will go towards LOBS.
“We’re a non-profit society and we raise money for families [with] kids that have trouble affording … equine assisted programs in the community,” explains Seminoff. “… Basically, they’re programs that teach social skills and work primarily with youth at risk. Youth with quite a wide variety of challenges: autism spectrum, fetal alcohol [syndrome], undiagnosed emotional, mental dysregulation, that sort of thing.”
