The lights are about to shine on artists performing at Vernon’s newest arts venue.
The Hub Lights fundraiser is an evening of music and a bake sale to raise money for new stage lights at The Hub Arts Collective, which holds ongoing live music, performing and visual arts, and theatre events. Bands Steel Wound and Sorella are scheduled to perform.
Featuring Rod MacDonald (upright bass, vocals, tuba), Keith Hustler (vocals, guitar, banjo and mandolin) and Kerry Parks (songs, vocals, guitar, dobro and harmonica), Steel Wound presents a repertoire of original tunes and semi-obscure alt-root jazzy country blues.
Sorella is comprised of longtime Coldstream Coffee House musician and Enderby open mic host Ellie Young on bass, music therapist and Vernon Glee Club co-founder Julie Armitage on guitar and teacher/Trinity United Church music director Diana Ward on keys. They have an eclectic sound mixed with three-part harmony.
Hub Lights happens Sunday, 7 p.m., at The Hub, located on 30th Avenue next to the Towne Theatre. Tickets are $15 at The Hub or the Bean Scene.
