This Sunday, the Comox Valley Concert Band will perform during the Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park’s Summer Sounds concert series.
The band will perform a free concert from 2 to 4 p.m. on the beautiful Filberg grounds in Comox.
The Comox Valley Concert Band, under the direction of Patrick Hoenmans, brings together members of the community who enjoy the full, rich sound that only a wind ensemble can create.
The 40-member group consists of musicians whose ages range from 19 to 92.
Concert band music has been a part of the Valley since 1895 when the Cumberland Union Band first appeared at community festivities.
Today, the Comox Valley Concert Band presents two major concerts a year in conjunction with the Evergreen Seniors Club.
The annual Mothers’ Day concert and tea is always well received.
The band also makes regular appearances at the Cumberland Remembrance Day Service, Canada Day celebrations in Courtenay and Filberg Park’s Summer Sounds.
