Cariboo's Festival of All Things Art set for B.C. Day long weekend in 2019

Tickets for the Cariboo’s biggest celebration of music and art are set to go on sale today (Dec. 7).

ArtsWells Festival of All Things Art, which takes place in Wells, B.C. each summer, is scheduled for B.C. Day Long Weekend – Aug. 2-5 2019 – and tickets will be on sale at a lower “early crow” rate from 9 a.m.

Weekend passes start at $145 are available online at www.artswells.com.

The festival, in its 16th year, showcases hundreds of artists working in an array of art forms and musical genres in unique venues throughout Wells and Barkerville.

Venues including the Sunset Theatre in Wells or St. Saviour’s Church in Barkerville Historic Town provide intimate interaction with artists, while the Wells Community Hall and the Outdoor Stage give attendees room to get down on the dance floor.

Visual art installations, roving performers, parades, literary readings, theatre shows, and inspiring music show up around every corner during the festival, from morning until night. Delve further into the experience of art with the many workshops and special collaborations that take place throughout the weekend, or head down to the creek to soak up the sounds of a spontaneous musical jam.

ArtsWells is also currently seeking performers, workshop facilitators and vendors for the festival. Artist submissions are accepted online until Jan. 31, 2019.

“This year we’re wanting to expand the number of submissions we get from the Cariboo region,” says Evie Lavers, Island Mountain Arts’ senior social media and content strategist.

Children aged 12 and under attend the festival free, and every adult weekend pass includes a $15 voucher to spend at the festival merchandise booth. Camping and other accommodations are available from ArtsWells and other providers throughout Wells and Barkerville.

Visit Artswells.com or the ArtsWells Facebook page for more information or to buy your tickets.
