Comox Valley highland dancers represent at championship

Comox Valley highland dancers distinguished themselves at the B.C. open championships, representing the Brigadoon Dance Academy.

Comox Valley highland dancers Cameron Kearns and Jillian Peacock distinguished themselves at the B.C. open championships, representing the Brigadoon Dance Academy.

Brigadoon’s championship team trains under the direction of Diena Henry. Dancers from the Comox Valley and Nanaimo train at Brigadoon.

In the 11 years championship, Kearns won two bronze medals (Fling and Sword) and two silvers (Seann Truibhas and Reel). She was second runner-up.

In the 16/17 years championship, Peacock won a bronze medal (Sword) and placed fifth in Fling and the Seann Truibhas. She was fourth runner-up.

The competition was run by the B.C. Highland Dancing Association at Magee Secondary School in Vancouver. This open competition hosted dancers from not only British Columbia, but many top dancers from United States and Alberta.
