Biopic to benefit Art Gallery

Campbell River Festival of Film to screen Mr Turner Tuesday in support of gallery

The Campbell River Festival of Film will present a special screening of the award-winning film Mr Turner March 24, as a benefit for the Campbell River Art Gallery.

The film will run at the Tidemark Theatre Tuesday, March 24 at 7 p.m. and tickets are $12. The Campbell River Art Gallery is thrilled that the Campbell River Festival of Film is presenting it with this wonderful gift.

“To have one community arts organization support another in this way is amazing and so appreciated,” said Gallery Executive Director Kris Anderson.

Actor Timothy Spall won the Best Actor prize at the Cannes Film Festival for his magnificent performance as J.M.W. Turner in director Mike Leigh’s gorgeous biopic about the famed British landscape painter. Mr Turner has also been nominated for best costume design, best production design and best original score at the 2015 Academy Awards.

Leigh has created a film that’s both intellectually and visually captivating. Mr Turner focuses on the last 25 years of the life of the bohemian visionary artist – his work, his relationship with his father and his disturbing relationships with women.

Mark your calendars for Tuesday to support the Campbell River Art Gallery and the Campbell River Festival of Film.
