Victoria Clipper repairs delayed due to winter storms

Operations scheduled to resume Feb. 13, alternative routes available

Vancouver Islanders heading to Seattle will need to take a workaround for the next few days.

The Victoria Clipper is down in Seattle for its annual winter refitting and was scheduled to return to service on Feb. 11. However, due to heavy snow conditions in Washington State, repairs in the shipyard are behind.

Instead, Clipper Vacations is offering a workaround solution in conjunction with Blackball Ferries and local charter busses.

For $51.50, people with reservations or last-minute walk-ons on the Clipper can pay a one-way fare to take the Coho ferry down to Port Angeles, then take a chartered bus to Seattle via the Bainbridge Island Ferry.

The Coho ferry is still running at its normal 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. departure times. This afternoon, taking the Coho to Seattle would look roughly like this:

Estimated Itinerary – Victoria to Seattle

3 p.m. Passengers must check in at the Victoria Clipper Terminal, as a group, you will walk over to the Black Ball Ferry Terminal to process US Customs and boar the Coho Ferry.

4 p.m. Passengers and Clipper staff walk on board the Coho Ferry, the Coho ferry departs Victoria for Port Angeles

5:30 p.m. Passengers and Clipper staff walk off the Coho Ferry to board a charter bus. The bus departs Port Angeles and travels to the Bainbridge Island Ferry

8:20 p.m. Bus boards the Bainbridge Island to Seattle on Washington State Ferries

9 p.m. Bus arrives at Clipper terminal at Pier 69

While the route may be cumbersome, Clipper Vacations told Black Press that there’s been an increase in calls over the last couple days because people are hesitant to do the drive down in the snow.

The Clipper is scheduled to resume service by the end of the week.
