Spiritual instructor, medium, and psychic reader Melissa Frisby opened her office doors in downtown Golden in early January.
Her unique business, Melissa Frisby Psychic Medium and Spiritual Instructor, began to blossom after she started weekly workshops in a friend’s home. Through her services, she helps skeptics and enthusiasts. Frisby says Golden has been great to her.
“Everything fell in to place so perfectly. The demand became too much. I needed a place to hold classes and book readings,” says Frisby, who started with in-home sessions and used a space at the Nourish Clinic until her demands increased.
She says it has always been her dream to start workshops and help others develop their intuitive psychic abilities, which she says is something everyone has access to.
“I believe everybody is psychic. It is your birthright to access your intuition,” she explains.
Frisby realized her gifts through struggling to communicate with words and remembers communicating telepathically with her mother to get her needs met as a child. When she was 17 she had what she describes as an out of body experience, also known as astral projection.
“It was terrifying and exhilarating,” she explains. “After that experience I began to read everything I could find on it and all spiritual concepts.”
In 2013, Frisby attended a workshop with Carmel Joy Baird, spiritual medium, author, and reality television star of the show Mom’s A Medium. It was through the workshop when she learned she could use her skills to help others by providing guidance through readings and psychic development.
She explains that many people who book readings with her experience closure after reconnecting with loved ones through her mediumship, they receive signals or messages as ways to achieve goals or change course in their lives, and by learning to use their own intuitive gifts through workshops they can better their lives by making good decisions.
“Skeptics are my favourite people to read to,” she says, explaining it is during the medium readings when she witnesses the most healing taking place in a session.
It is through these sessions when people can reconnect with someone who has passed and communicate with them.
“I often validate things I could never have known,” Frisby explains.
Frisby’s business hours are Monday to Sunday from 12 to 8 p.m. She offers group workshops on Tuesday evenings. For more information check out her Facebook page.
