Ian Roberts will be leaving his post as Director of Public Relations for Marine Harvest Canada and take on the role of Communications and Business Development Director for Marine Harvest Scotland.
A UK citizen, Roberts will begin this new role in May and will be based near Fort William, Scotland, after 25 years with Marine Harvest Canada, which is based in Campbell River. Roberts was the face of Marine Harvest Canada and, in fact, for the salmon farming industry in British Columbia. He was front and centre as the industry took heat from powerful environmental groups, always remaining calm and rational. He was the centrepiece of a report on salmon farming done by prominent television newsmagazine show 60 Minutes in May of 2014, taking on the role of showing the television crews around and explaining the industry to a large American audience.

Roberts was also a prominent face in Campbell River doing community and charity work on behalf of MHC and as an individual, never shying away from the microphone like when he MC’ed the Chamber of Commerce Awards of Distinction.
On May 1, Roberts will be replaced by Jeremy Dunn, currently the executive director of the British Columbia Salmon Farmers Association. Dunn had led BCSFA’s five person team for the past four years.
“The past four years with the BCSFA has been an incredible experience and introduced me to the talented women and men working in B.C. and the global seafood sector,” says Dunn. “This experience has led me to want to become involved on a deeper level, and I’m excited to join Marine Harvest. I can’t thank the board of directors enough for their guidance, leadership and support.”
